How Avoiding Coach Roy Williams Six Major Basketball Sins have helped the NOVA Program

Filed under: Uncategorized — editor in chief @ 3:11 am

roy-and-seanWhen the NOVA Coaching staff went to the Nike Coaching Clinic in Connecticut a few years back they were not sure who had the correct message to improve their AAU team ( the Alexandria All-Stars). In previous years the AAS had size, skill and toughness. The current team was smaller and did not have the depth of tallent.

Of all of the coaches at the clinic  Coach Roy Williams, who was then at Kansas , hit a nerve with his  Six Major Sins.  The coaches  implemented Coach Williams pointers, avoiding the six major sins,  the team went on to qualify for nationals.

The NOVA coaching staff is  still using many of Coach Williams concepts. To find out what are the six major sins and his four key defensive rules ( click on link below)
