Sam Eligwe
The NOVA Raiders go to 3-0 in the VCCS Conference with a win over Germanna Community College in Annandale last night. The Raiders have scored 100 points or more in all three conference games this season. The Raiders were lead by a tough defense, dominance on the boards and balanced scoring. Six players were in double figures. Sam Eligwe lead all players with 18 points followed by: Mark Phillips 17; Malik Garnim 16; Brandon Allen 14; Jake Johnson 12; E. Willis 11. All nine players dressed for the game scored including starter Chris Barlow with 7 and Hassan Hosh with 4.
After a tough game with Baltimore City Community College The NOVA Raiders were able to regroup and come out strong to beat Essex CC in the Saturday contest 75-71. In the Sunday game the Raiders again came on strong to maintain a lead from the halfway point of the first half against Catonsville CC through the second half until the finish 81-71.
Joe Shewmaker
Joe Shewmaker was named to the All-Tournament Team. Essex and Catonsville are past champions of the NJCAA Region XX tournament as well as the MDJCO Conference tournament.
These wins bring the Raiders to three wins over the very competitive Maryland JUCO teams for the season. The Raiders are still undefated in the Virginia Community College System Conference.
CSM comes to NOVA for the Thursday game in Annandale
